A charity that I have
recently been involved with is Edwards Trust.
February 28th 2000
The Charity Edwards
Trust in Birmingham, is to go on line
thanks to the generosity of the locally-based
Internet company, Cyberteam Ltd. They very kindly made
a donation of the registration of two domain names
and a free website, which can be found by entering
Edwardstrust.co.uk or Edwardstrust.org.uk on the
world-wide web.

Tree
planting ceremony at the Edwards Trust Birmingham |
The presentation of the cyber
domain was made at a cheque presentation and tree planting
ceremony on 28th February 2000.
The Edwards Trust Charity received a cheque for
£1,000 from the London-based charity
the Philip Green Memorial Trust. Eddie Bowcott, the Chairman
of Cyberteam Ltd, the UK's largest website domain name trading
organisation, has supported the Philip Green Memorial
Trust with donations and by
giving his and his companies' support, time and best endeavours
to assist with the Charity's fund raising events. Therefore,
the Philip Green Memorial Trust charity thought it would be
a
fitting tribute that some of the money raised should be given
to a charity in Eddie Bowcott's home town of Birmingham.

Also present at the ceremony
was Major Ronald Ferguson, who wished to lend his support
to Eddie Bowcott at the presentation and in recognition of
the wonderful work undertaken by the staff and helpers at
the Edwards Trust, an organisation which allows parents and
carers to stay with their children whilst they undergo treatment
for their illnesses at the nearby Birmingham Childrens Hospital.
The work they undertake provides very welcome relief at a
time of great need and crisis within a family, when they are
trying to cope with the trauma
of child illness or the great tragedy of bereavement, following
either the death of a child, or when a child has lost his
or her parents or a significant carer.

21st March 2000 My daughter,
Carole, sent me an e-mail telling me to slow down. I am
a workaholic, in fact a very serious workaholic and have
been one for 35 years. Carole said the poem is sad and
it seems quite relevant to my life. The poem was however
sent for a special reason as follows: "Please pass this
poem and message on to everybody you know. It is the request
of a special little girl who will soon leave this world
as she has cancer. This message passed on is a choice
for all of us to save a little girl that's dying of a
serious and fatal form of cancer. This girl has 6 months
left to live, and as her dying wish, she wanted to send
a chain letter telling everyone to live their life to
the fullest, since she never will. She'll never make it
to prom, graduate from high school, get married or have
a family of her own. By you sending this to as many people
as possible, you can give her and her family a little
because, because with every name that this is sent to,
The American Cancer Society will donate 3 cents per name
to her treatment and recovery plan. Dr Dennis Shields
